Carpet Pad

Carpet padding absorbs impact that would otherwise be absorbed by the carpet. Impact can cause backings to stretch, delamination (separation of the primary backing from the secondary backing), and unnecessary stress on the carpet fiber.

  • Makes your carpet feel softer and more luxurious
  • Reduces leg fatigue caused by constant walking.
  • Is an excellent sound absorber.
  • Provides thermal insulation reducing energy cost.
  • Makes vacuuming more efficient.
  • Increases the life of your carpet.

Rebond is the most popular type of carpet padding sold today. It is made from reclaimed scrap of high-density urethane foam used in furniture and automotive manufacturing, which is bonded together to form carpet cushion.

A general rule of thumb for most residential carpet applications is to choose cushion no more than 7/16 inch thick and no less than 1/4 inch with 6 pounds per cubic feet density.  If the carpet is a Berber or a low profile carpet, choose a cushion no more than 3/8 inch thick with 8 pounds density.
