Vinyl Installation
Subfloor preperation is the most important step in floor covering installation.
The subfloor must be structurally sound, flat, and free of dirt, oily films,
cracks and crevices.
Full Spread
This is the most common type of installation. An adhesive is trowled over the
enitire substrate to glue down the vinyl. This type of installation is used for
felt backing sheet vinyl, and VCT.
Perimeter Adhered
Perimeter Adhered is an installation method in which adhesive is only applied to
the perimeter of the flooring and also at the seams. This method is used for
flex backing sheet vinyl.
Floating
A method of vinyl flooring installation in which the flooring is not bonded to
the substrate by any adhesive. This method is common with vinyl planks that
adhere to each other similar to floating laminate floors.
