Four reasons tile flooring is perfect for hot and sunny Florida

It’s beautiful with an almost unlimited number of colors and patterns. It is also durable, easy to clean and one of the most affordable flooring materials around.

There are specific reasons, however, as to why tile is such a good match for a sunny and hot climate.

Wakulla Carpet Brokers has been in business since 1992. We’re owners Curt and Wanda Daniels and we want to become your one-source shopping for all your flooring needs.

Curt, especially, knows his way around this business, having been in the industry for over 40 years.

Our inventory is robust, and we carry every type of flooring. We love ceramics, especially for a hot and sunny place like Florida.

Our showroom is in Crawfordville, FL and we serve Tallahassee, East Point, Fort St Joe, St. George Island and Monticello. We offer a free in-home measurement.

Let the sunshine in!

While some floors do fade or discolor, tile won’t, not from the sun anyway. (There are other culprits, but your retailer can tell you more.)

UV rays are known to leach color. With this, however, the color is either fired into the clay body or onto the surface of a glazed piece. That makes the hue permanent.

It helps you cool down

If the room is chilly, so will be the floors. Then, when you step on it, tile will transfer that to the body, and you’ll feel cool.

One word of caution; it works the other way also. If the room is hot and you walk in on your bare feet--ouch!

It doesn’t absorb moisture

When its porcelain, it holds very little water, so it’s great for humid weather, or whether you just spill a lot. You can even use it outside.

Porcelain tile, whether it is glazed, is non-porous and waterproof.

While its composition is clay, it also includes sand and glass. Then it’s fired at a higher temperature than ceramic tile, making it highly durable.

All these characteristics make it a good choice for kitchen and bath flooring, decks, patios and poolside.

It can help you save energy

Since it repels heat, you won’t need to use the air conditioner so much. That saves money!
